Emperor penguins live on the floating ice packs and islands of the Antarctic. Known as the "giant of the penguins," an adult emperor penguin can be up to four feet tall and weigh up to 80 pounds. Unable to fly and clumsy on land, it is most at home underwater. In March, adult birds leave the sea and travel as far as 150 miles across the ice to nesting areas where they will breed.
